Leo Reborn Doll by Nest468 - 19 inches (48.26 cm).
This kit was deep down in my stash and I'm so glad I decided to work on it. This is an extremely rare kit as it's the First Edition #124 and there were only 160 worldwide and his COA is signed and numbered by Phil Donnelly! This is a kit I'd had for so long that I forgot I even owned it and I'm so happy that now someone will be able to adopt this genuine "unburied" treasure!.
Leo is a newborn sculpt by Phil Donnelly with full limbs and closed eyes.. His hands and feet are beautifully detailed (I love his little fingers) and he's got the sweetest face. The actual length of the assembled baby is 19 inches but if his legs were able to be straightened he would probably be at least 21 inches long. He's got painted blonde hair with rooted lashes to match. And Leo's skin tones, mottling, veining and skin texture are accurately "newborn". He's very realistic. I was always taught to sign my artwork, so my signature, my nursery name and his date of birth are on his little cloth bum.
I've been a portrait artist all my life, a doll creator for over ten years, a mom, grandma and great grandma, and a pediatric RN for a lot of years as well. I definitely know how real babies of different ages look and feel and I do my best to bring that realism and innocence to my art dolls. I'm also committed to high quality work and I never list a baby for adoption unless I'd love to be able to keep it in my own collection. I wish I could keep this little guy, but letting go is a hard part of the process of this art form. Just have to keep reminding myself that sending a sweet baby to someone who will treasure him is one of the best parts too.
I consider each of my little creations to be 3D portraits that can be held and snuggled. They are all painted with heat set paints, protected with a soft touch varnish, and finished using soft cloth bodies. They are meant for adult collectors and older children who are caring and trustworthy enough to treat them with the respect a piece of fine art deserves.
None of my babies are meant to be given as toys to young children!
Leo will be coming home with the clothing in his photos, more baby things to get his wardrobe started, his paci, his signed and numbered COA and a Nest468 birth certificate and care suggestions. I'll include a few extras too to make things even more special. Occasionally a few of the items in photos are nursery props and will not be included. I enjoy creating a good box opening for my customers as a thank you, and so far have had nothing but delighted new parents.
